Final Result of Integrated MSc -Phd Program in Chemical and Molecular Biology 2016

 

Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IITKGP) in collaboration with Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) announces an integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. Program in Chemical and Molecular Biology starting from academic year 2016-2017. Degrees will be awarded by IIT Kharagpur. The program aims to bring two premier institutes in teaching and research together to offer courses in the interface of Biology and Chemistry. Students will participate on the course work in both the institutes. The students obtaining CGPA greater than the stipulated one will be directly admitted to the Ph.D. program after completion of M.Sc. Applications in prescribed format (to be downloaded from the Institutes’ web sites http://www.iitkgp.ac.in/intpbs/, http://www.iacs.res.in/intpbs/) are invited from interested Indian nationals for admission to the above course. Eligibility:

  •     First division at 10 and 10+2 level

  •       Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Life science or Chemistry.

  •      At least 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC-NCL category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD category candidates in the qualifying degree.

  •        For candidates with letter grades/CGPA, the candidate should secure at least 6.0 CGPA in 10 point scale.

  •      Proof of having passed the Qualifying Degree with the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQ) as specified by the admitting institute should be submitted by September 30, 2016.

 

Reservation of seats will be as per MHRD norms.

 

 

Fellowship: 

 

Admitted students will be entitled to a stipend of Rs. 12,000/- p.m. (fixed) for the first two years subject to adequate performance and other rules of the Institutes. On successful completion of the M.Sc. course, students obtaining a CGPA above a certain stipulated level will be considered for admission into Ph.D. program following the prevailing norms of the admitting institute. It may not be possible to provide accommodation for all selected candidates during part of the coursework being conducted at IACS. Students will be accommodated in the hostel during their stay at IIT Kharagpur.

 

Application Procedure::

 

Duly filled in applications (to be downloaded from IITKGP or IACS web-sites) in prescribed format along with attested copies of mark sheets/certificates and a self-addressed envelope should reach the Coordinator, Joint Admission Committee, Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. Program in “Chemical and Molecular Biology”, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Jadavpur, Kolkata-700 032 not later than 5.00 P.M. on 15th July, 2016. The envelope containing the application should be marked as "Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. Program in Chemical and Molecular Biologyy". Applications received after due date will not be accepted. Interim queries will not be entertained. Those who have appeared in the final examination may also apply but their final selection will be subject to securing the required percentage of marks in the qualifying examination.

 

Application fee:

 

Rs. 500/- for General and Rs. 250/- for SC/ST/OBC candidates.

 

Application fees will have to be sent by a demand draft in favor of “Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science” payable at Kolkata and to be sent with the application. Application fee will not be returned if the application is rejected for any reason or if the candidate does not appear for the written test.

 

Selection Procedure

 

Candidates will be short-listed for a written test to be held at IACS, Kolkata.

 

Candidates further shortlisted on the basis of written test will be called for an interview, out of which maximum ten (10) candidates will be selected for admission. List of successful candidates will be displayed on the website of both the institutes.

 

Only SC/ST candidates will be reimbursed to-and-fro sleeper class rail fare by the shortest route on submission of SC/ST certificates and tickets.

 

Eligible candidates for the written test, whose names appeared in the institute website but have not received the Admit Card/Call Letter from IACS before the examination date, are advised to appear in the written entrance test with appropriate photo-identity proof.

 

 

Important points to remember :

 

Closing date of receiving Applications: 15th July, 2016

 

Written test will be held on 24th July, 2016, 10 am to 1 pm at IACS, Kolkata.

 

Interview of shortlisted candidates based on the written test will be held within the period 25th-27th July, 2016 at IACS, Kolkata.

 

Tentative date of Admission/Registration at IIT-Kharagpur- 5th August, 2016.

 

Duly filled in application in prescribed format should be sent along with the demand draft, attested copies of mark sheets/certificates and a self-addressed envelope.
